Storytelling Workshop

Have you ever wondered why TED talks are fascinating, how Hollywood draws from millennia-old story principles, and why stories are key to becoming unforgettable and creating connection?

GradSWE was delighted to host a storytelling workshop by author and award-winning PBS filmmaker Charles Vogl, who gave a two hour interactive workshop for over 40 students!

Yale SWE Receives Charter

February 2016

The Yale SWE section received its charter at the Region F Conference hosted at West Point on Saturday, February 27.  This was the culmination of more than a year of work by the Yale SWE section and represents the growth of SWE at Yale over the past 3 years.  Without the dedication and hard work of both our grad and undergrad members, this would have been impossible.  

SWE-WISAY BBQ

August 2015

SWE and WISAY (Women in Science at Yale) joined forces to host a BBQ for our members.  Drawing attendees from across the STEM fields at Yale, a fun time was had by all!  

Bring a Boy to SWE - Gender Bias Workshop

February 2015

Eva Pietri led a discussion on gender bias in STEM that was attended by students from across the STEM disciplines at Yale.  She presented research on implicit bias and showed some short movie clips that she has helped to create.  These videos, which dramatize situations where gender bias comes to the fore, are designed to help combat implicit bias by helping viewers to become aware of it.  After her presentation, she led a lively discussion about gender bias.

Yale SWE Hosts an Insomnia Cookie Blueboking Event

On September 2nd, in the Branford College common room, 25 prospective engineering students joined the SWE board and other engineering upperclassmen to discuss classes and shopping period. The upperclassmen provided insights into how to create a balanced schedule while still fulfilling all engineering course prerequisites and classes.

The Yale SWE Board Attends the WE14 Conference in LA

The Yale SWE Board attened the WE14 + ICWES16 conference this during Fall Break, 2014. More than 7,000 women from around the world will come together in Los Angeles in October from the 23-25 for WE14 + ICWES16. They had a chance to meet their peers and engage organizations at the largest global exchange for change for women engineers.
